Throughout this course, we have explored various aspects of assessment and its purpose in education. Now, I will reflect upon my understanding of assessment purpose and the key insights gained from this course.

Knowing:

Before the course, I had some prior knowledge about assessment purposes. I understood that assessments are used to evaluate students’ knowledge and skills, providing feedback for both educators and learners. Assessments enable educators to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses, guide instructional decisions, and monitor student progress over time. Additionally, assessments play a vital role in promoting student accountability and academic achievement.

However, the course has expanded my understanding of assessment purposes, delving into various dimensions and complexities involved. I have learned that assessments serve multiple purposes, such as formative assessment, summative assessment, and diagnostic assessment. Formative assessment helps educators gather ongoing feedback to modify teaching strategies and support student learning.
